Tyler Robertson

I build products and the tools behind them.

I’m a lead engineer at Event Temple and co‑founder of Pixel Perfect Software. My career started at a coding bootcamp when I was 18. Nine years later, I’m still shipping.

Selected work

TenantSee

Rental management for Canadian landlords and tenants.

Properties, payments, maintenance, and documents live in one place instead of across spreadsheets and email threads. It’s a full-stack, multi-tenant SaaS.

Writing

The first posts are on the way.

I’m writing about building software, the tooling behind it, and getting into this industry without a degree.

How I got here

I wasn’t the best student. My grades didn’t get me into computer science, but I knew what I liked doing and could code well enough to start somewhere. So I bet on a bootcamp, then on a stack of cold applications, then on starting a company.

Today I care most about clean architecture, developer experience, and software that solves the problem it was built for. This site lives in the same Turborepo as TenantSee and pixel-perfect.ca: four apps sharing 22 packages.

  1. 12Building small websites on my dad’s laptop, one Codecademy lesson at a time.
  2. TeensRunning Minecraft servers and forum sites, hoping they’d pay better than my cashier job.
  3. 18Lighthouse Labs in Montreal: two and a half months of 12‑hour days, as the youngest in my cohort.
  4. ThenTwo months of applications in Halifax with nothing back, then a first developer job building React Native and IoT apps.

Experience

Nine years of building for startups, scaleups, and small businesses.
