About

Where I started, what I care about now, and where I’ve worked along the way.

How I got here

I wasn’t a great student, and my grades weren’t good enough for computer science. But I’d been building websites since I was 12, so at 18 I went to a coding bootcamp instead. I’ve been writing software for a living ever since.

Those first websites came together on my dad’s laptop, one Codecademy lesson at a time. As a teenager I ran Minecraft servers and forum sites, hoping they’d pay better than my cashier job. The bootcamp was Lighthouse Labs in Montreal: two and a half months of 12‑hour days, as the youngest in my cohort. Then came two months of applications in Halifax with nothing back, before my first developer job building React Native and IoT apps.

Today I care most about good architecture and the tooling other developers work inside: shared packages, conventions, and CLIs like always-up-to-date. This site is built on that same kind of foundation.
