The problem

Keeping dependencies current is a chore every JavaScript project shares, and each package manager has its own commands and quirks. always-up-to-date gives you one workflow for all of them.

What it does

Install it once and use the same commands in any project.

  • Detects npm, yarn, pnpm, or bun from the lockfile
  • autd check lists outdated packages, with JSON output for CI
  • autd update updates everything, or only the packages you name
  • --dry-run previews changes, and --interactive lets you pick
  • Works across workspaces and monorepos

How it’s built

It’s a TypeScript CLI for Node 24 built on Commander. Each package manager gets its own manager implementation behind a shared command runner, so adding support for a new one doesn’t touch the rest of the tool.

It’s MIT licensed and published to npm, with CI and a separate security workflow running in GitHub Actions.

What’s next

On the roadmap: migration rules for frameworks like React and Next.js, automated pull requests, and vulnerability scanning.
